How does a roll forming machine work?

A roll forming machine performs cold continuous plastic forming on long metal strips(mostly steel coils).It shapes flat sheet metal into precise fixed cross-section profiles through gradual,incremental bending by multiple roller stations,without heating the material.

Full Working Process Step by Step

Uncoiling&Feeding

Coiled metal sheet is loaded onto an uncoiler,which steadily unwinds the strip.Guiding rollers keep the material aligned,control stable tension,and feed it smoothly into the forming section at constant speed.

Progressive Roll Forming(Core Process)

The flat strip passes through dozens of consecutive upper and lower roller stands.

Each roller set only makes a small,precise bend on the metal.Step-by-step bending accumulates little by little,until the strip forms the target profile completely.

Complex shapes need more roller stations;gentle gradual deformation avoids cracking,deformation or excessive stress on metal materials.

In-line Auxiliary Processing

The machine can integrate punching,hole drilling,notching,embossing and other operations during forming,finishing all features in one continuous production line.

Length Cutting&Finishing

After full shaping,the continuous long profile enters a hydraulic flying cut-off device.It accurately cuts products to preset lengths without stopping the running line.

Output&Collection

Finished standard profiles are conveyed out and stacked automatically,ready for packaging,transportation or follow-up assembly.
