The standard service life of hydraulic cylinder fitted on hydraulic decoiler is determined by operating environment, hydraulic oil quality and daily maintenance. Under regular working conditions with standardized maintenance, the core cylinder for coil expanding normally reaches 5–8 years of service life, while auxiliary cylinders on coil car achieve around 6–9 years.
When the factory uses qualified anti-wear hydraulic oil and replaces filter elements periodically, cylinder inner wall and piston sealing components suffer minimal abrasion. If hydraulic oil is polluted by iron filings, dust or water without timely replacement, oil seal aging and inner scratch will accelerate sharply, shortening actual service life down to only 2–3 years. Harsh working conditions such as outdoor damp workshop, corrosive galvanizing fume or frequent overload expansion also severely damage cylinder seals.
Regular minor maintenance can effectively extend service cycle: checking oil leakage at rod seals every week, replenishing or replacing hydraulic oil as required, avoiding long-term full-pressure static compression of the cylinder. Most vulnerable consumable parts including oil seals, O-rings can be replaced every 1–2 years without changing the whole cylinder body. After replacing wearing seals, the repaired cylinder can keep stable operation and continue to serve for another 3–5 years.
